Curious about fountain pens but not sure where to start?
Join Mrs Blackwell for a cup of tea, a hot cross bun and a low stress introduction to the joy and elegance of fountain pens.
In this informative, 90-minute session we'll cover:
Writing and drawing with fountain pens
Nib sizes (you'll have a chance to try all the main ones - Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad and 1.1 Stub)
Your choices when it comes to inks, cartridges and converters
Cleaning and care for your investment
During the class you'll have an opportunity to try Esterbrook’s Estie pens in all five of their standard nib sizes, so you can get a feel for which nib suits your handwriting and drawing best.
We'll be using the Esterbrook brand exclusively throughout the class, but everything you learn will apply to almost every other fountain pen on the market.
If you decide to purchase a full-price Esterbrook pen from Mrs Blackwell’s Village Bookshop on the day, your course fee will be credited toward your new pen.
This is an absolute beginners class. No experience necessary, just bring along your curiosity.
Suitable for left and right handers 😊
This event is a part of the Greytown Gin Hootenanny, so we will be using botanical and tweed inspired ink colours, and our writing practice will include Mr Blackwell’s recipe for a perfect gin martini!
