We’re proud of the unique ambiance we’ve created at the bookshop, and we’re happy to share it with you for your photo or film shoot, private shopping or other event, or proposal.
Rent the Bookshop for a Photo or Film Shoot
Rent the entire bookshop for your private or commercial photo or film shoot for $55 per hour.
Some frequently asked location details:
Parking: We have two car parks at the rear of our shop which you can use, and if it’s outside of business hours, there are additional library car parks you can use as well. Entry to our parking spaces is suitable for vehicles up to a large van or small moving truck. It is not suitable for large commercial vehicles or tailers.
Equipment loading: There are no stairs, but there is only one entry to the shop (the front door) and it’s a single-wide door; no double doors for large equipment to get through.
Sound: While the shop is not actually soundproofed, when the door is closed the bookshop is largely silent. Books have a remarkable soundproofing effect. You may pick up the odd rumble from a freight truck driving by, but that’s about it for ambient noise.
Staging area: There is a very small back room - suitable as a changing area - and one unisex toilet. A makeup crew could set up in Mrs Blackwell’s office, 20m south of the shop in another building, up two small flights of stairs with no elevator.
Rearranging: Stock on shelves can be moved. The stock may be used as props as long as it is all returned in original condition. Stock in storage and furniture can be moved by arrangement. The front window display can be reset to suit your needs. The front counter can not be moved.
Catering: We have one small kitchen, tea and coffee facilities (tea and coffee provided), and one small fridge. There are no chairs provided.
Wifi: Wifi is available.
Lighting: You’re welcome to use the shop lights; there’s not much natural lighting available, and it can be fully blocked out if needed.
Electrical: You may use the electrical outlets in the shop for additional lighting or equipment. We have 4 double socket outlets above the shelving, 6 double socket outlets in the front counter and 4 double socket outlets in the back room.
Hours: We prefer to rent the shop outside of normal operating hours. Filming during normal operating hours may be able to be arranged during quieter times of the year. Please contact us with your needs.
Insurance required: You will need to have your own insurance, please.

Private Shopping and Events
We’re also happy to hire out the bookshop for private shopping and small events. An hour or two of private shopping — plus the books of their choice — makes an incredible gift for the bibliophile in your life. (We especially love it as a gift idea for mums who might not normally have an hour to themselves without the kids.)
We can also accommodate small, book-themed gatherings.
We can provide drinks of your choice and platters or small bites to further enhance your event or private shopping experience.
