Introduction to Traveler’s Company
On the surface, the Traveler’s Notebook system seems quite simple: a leather cover with several vertical and one horizontal elastic band, along with refillable paper inserts that can be combined and swapped out at will. The beauty, however, is in the ability to customise the notebooks to your specific journaling preferences.
Despite the name, the Traveler’s notebooks are not just for globetrotters, they’re also perfect for work or a trip that’s only as far as your local cafe.
Hi, I'm Millie, owner of Mrs. Blackwell's Village Bookshop in Greytown 👋
We are a New Zealand based reseller of Traveler's Company Notebooks. I made these videos as a gentle introduction and to guide you through the Traveler’s Notebook system.
I embraced journals when I started working in an office, aged 21. Despite a few dalliances with digital note keeping, I kept returning to pen and paper for timetables, meeting notes, and collecting ideas. My journal became my most important productivity device and a great comfort in a busy working life.
Now that I am self-employed, I’ve found the Traveler’s Notebook’s flexibility and endless customisation means I can adapt it for most of my life and business. I think you’ll see my enthusiasm come through in these videos.
Traveler’s Company Overview
This video gives an overview of the regular size Traveler’s Journal. I open a brand new one and show you what’s inside, including the leather journal, a blank insert, a spare elastic band and a cloth cover.
You’ll also see how to use the rubber bands to secure three inserts inside your cover. I finish with a a look inside some of my own well established journals.
Traveler’s Company Core Inserts
There are approximately 30 inserts to choose from. I think of them in five groups:
The Core range
The Calendar/Dated range
The Creative range
The Customiser range
The Collector range
This video takes you through the core range.
Traveler’s Company Creative Inserts
This video takes you through the inserts that we describe as the Creative range.
Obviously creativity is a broad term and there are a lot of different creative things you can do with the inserts, but these three inserts are specifically designed for drawers, painters and other kinds of creatives with in inclusion of watercolour paper, sketch paper and a special accordion fold card insert.
Traveler’s Company Calendar Inserts
This video gives you a tour of the inserts that are calendar based and designed to be dated. Perfect for people who use their journal for day to day productivity and planning.
There’s a dairy insert for all ways of working or planning: daily, monthly, and two options for weekly planning.
Once a year we also receive dated diaries for the new year, these usually arrive in store in October and are available until they sell out.
Traveler’s Company Customisers
In this video we have a look at the collection known as the "customisers". These are the non-standard inserts, in fact, some of them aren't really inserts at all.
Use these items to build a journal for your exact needs and preferences.
The range includes pocket stickers, repair kits of wonderful colours, brass clips and pen holders you can attach to your journal.
Traveler’s Company Collector Inserts
This video shows you through the collector series of inserts.
These are perfect for people who like to carry extra ephemera with them, and store small items in their notebook.
The range includes two kinds of card file (fits business cards or Instax photos, a PVC zipper case, a full size kraft folder, a PVC fold out for a full page or map, and sticker release paper for decorating on the go!
Traveler’s Spiral Notebooks
This final video explores the Spiral Ring Notebook series.
These notebooks are a stand alone range - they're not designed to go inside your leather journal the way the previously discussed inserts are.
In the spiral range, there are three sizes: A6, A5 and B6 and four interiors: MD white paper, watercolour paper, kraft paper or a photo file.
