Selling Your Book At Our Store

Firstly, congratulations! We know it takes a lot of work to bring a book to life and we commend your for putting in the effort.

For the most part we prefer to buy our books through major distributors rather than direct from authors - we’re a small team and this helps us keep the administration neat and tidy. We are also a small store, so we simply can’t take all the books that are submitted to us for consideration.

Children’s book authors: our children’s selection is purposely limited and we really only sell children’s non-fiction. Here’s an explanation.

We do not accept solicitation in the shop so please don’t be disappointed if you come in and we decline to hear your pitch.

If you’d like us to consider your book the best method is to email us including ALL the following information:

• At least a synopsis, but ideally a chapter to two

• Some relevant information about you, the author - where in the world you are based, other books you’ve written etc.

• Why you think your book will appeal to our customers in provincial New Zealand (think of this as sales points for our team)

• How you are promoting your book

• The ISBN number (we can not accept books without one)

• The retail price, and the wholesale price or bookseller margin

• Details of how or where we can purchase your book

We do our best to respond to all author emails in a timely way, but at busy times of year it can take some time for us to get back to you.

Donations

As you can imagine, we are frequently asked for donations and we do our best to help where we can.
We’re sorry that we can’t say yes to all donation requests.
If you would like us to donate to your fundraising project, please contact us at least two weeks prior to your event.

Send us an email with the following information:

• Details about your group / event, who will benefit from your fundraising effort and how they will benifit

• What kind of donation you’d like from us and how it will be used - ie. in a raffle, as a prize etc.

• How our contribution will be acknowledged by your group or organisation
