DOT YOUR i. CROSS YOUR t. The art of old fashioned letter writing.

  • Mrs Blackwells Village Bookshop 93 Main Street Greytown, Wellington, 5712 New Zealand (map)

When was the last time you wrote a letter? Or received one in the mail?

Letter-writing is now considered a lost art. It’s so much easier — and quicker — to fire off a text or email. But that’s precisely what makes writing and receiving letters so special. They require effort and thought; it’s hard not to feel special when you receive a handwritten letter or postcard in the mail.

Whether it’s for special occasions, maintaining long-distance relationships, or simply reaching out to someone you admire, a well-written letter will leave a lasting impact on the recipient.

Join Mrs Blackwell in this small group format for an afternoon of good, old-fashioned correspondence.

You'll arrive at 5:30pm for introductions and refreshments. We'll have a chat about the art of letter writing and I'll share some tips for getting more letters written and into the post!

Then we'll get bizzay! Our Esterbrook fountain pens will be inked, pencils will be freshly sharpened and there will be glue sticks, scissors, and stickers ready for you to use.

Every participant will have at least one card, one postcard and one short letter ready for the mailbox at the end of our session.

Each participant will also receive a pack containing:

  • A selection of premium greeting cards and postcards

  • $9 in vintage postage stamps - that's enough to send three letters or postcards within New Zealand

  • Ephemera to decorate your letters

  • A sheet of Mrs Blackwell's letter writing prompts so you can keep going at home

You are very welcome to bring along your favourite supplies or special cards that you've been saving up.
