The Magic of Writing It Down: A Journaling Workshop with Dan Keane

Here’s something we hear almost every day at Mrs Blackwell’s Village Bookshop:

“I would love to keep a journal but…”

…it’s so hard to do consistently.

…I just find that first sentence so intimidating.

…I don’t really know what to write about.

…I’m actually a bit scared to mess up my special (or expensive) journal.

Well friends, I have the solution for you.

Friend of the bookshop Dan Keane has agreed to teach a journaling workshop, designed to overcome these common issues and get you putting pen to paper more often.

In an action-packed 1.5 hour session he’ll introduce you to several different types of journalling, along with simple techniques and exercises you can use to get words flowing onto the page. You will learn how to use your journal to explore your thoughts, feelings, and ideas. You might even get a glimpse at how keeping a journal can ease stress and improve mental well-being.

Your ticket includes:

  • 1.5 hours of instruction from Dan

  • A Leuchtturm Off-Year Diary - you’ll receive an A5 diary full of premium paper, dated for a past year, so you don’t have to worry about messing up your best journal.

  • A Blackwing pencil

  • A Signo 1.0 gel pen

  • A range of refreshments will be on offer

What will you learn:

  • How to describe your day - the perfect foundation for all future journalling

  • How to notice and record events

  • The art of contemplative writing - working through a thought, feeling or new idea in your journal

There will be an opportunity for sharing and discussion for those who want to - but there’s no pressure!
